• Participating in the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) "Climate Leaders Program". Climate Leaders is a voluntary industry-government partnership that encourages companies to develop long-term comprehensive climate change strategies and set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction goals. Starting in 2005, Green Mountain Energy Company offset 100% of its carbon dioxide CO2 emissions. The company's commitment to the EPA Climate Leaders program is to offset CO2 emissions through 2010.
  
  
• Working with American Forests to preserve forest ecosystems by planting more than 100,000 trees on behalf of our customers. We also avoid products derived from old-growth forests.
  
  
• Using environmentally preferable printing methods that include soy-based inks on paper made with at least 30% post-consumer fiber and benign whitening products.
  
  
• Coordinating with an internal group, the "Green Ambassadors", that includes employee representation from headquarters and all regions. This group promotes environmental stewardship and enforces the environmental policies throughout the company and and sponsors sustainable events such as trail cleanups.
  
  
• Participating in Earth Share's annual giving campaign.
  
  
• Operating with strict guidelines for any products that we purchase on behalf of our customers or employees and avoid products derived from old-growth forests.
  
  
• A committed steward of the communities in which we operate, and we regularly invest time and resources in a variety of local organizations.
