Green Mountain Energy Company and Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas Announce Lineup for 15th Annual Parade of HomesTM
2006 Parade begins May 27th — event to be carbon neutral and feature new attractions

Dallas, TX — March 28, 2006 — Green Mountain Energy Company and the Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas (HBA Dallas) have once again joined forces for the 15th annual Parade of HomesTM (POH), which showcases custom homes priced from $800,000. This year's event will take place Saturday, May 27 through Sunday, June 17 at the Bluffs at Winding Creek in McKinney, Texas. This is the second year that Green Mountain Energy Company will be the title partner of the Parade of Homes event.

The Parade of Homes is a multi-week open house event, where area builders get to showcase the latest innovations and building technologies directly to the public. Each home will feature state-of-the-art amenities and luxurious decor. For more information, visit www.dallasbuilders.com. Green Mountain Energy Company and the HBA are offering attendees some new attractions during this year's Parade of Homes. Additionally, the carbon dioxide emissions associated with the electricity consumption of the Parade homes during the tour will be offset through Green Mountain's donation of comparable amount of wind power, renewable energy credits making the event carbon neutral.

"As there is a growing interest and demand from homebuyers for environmentally-preferable products and services, Green Mountain and the clean affordable electricity products it offers to residential customers in Texas is a great complement to the Parade of Homes."

Green Mountain Energy Company is offsetting the Parade of HomesTM electricity-related carbon dioxide (C02) emissions to make the event carbon neutral. Carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, has been identified as a major cause of global climate change.

"Green Mountain Energy Company is sponsoring the Parade of Homes and offsetting the carbon emissions associated with the event's electricity usage to educate homebuyers and event attendees about the benefits of cleaner electricity," said Paul Markovich, senior vice president, Residential Sales, Green Mountain Energy Company. "Most people don't know that making electricity is the leading cause of industrial air pollution in the United States. We want to get this message out and the Parade of Homes presented us with a unique opportunity to do this, while partnering with a great organization like the Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas."

This year's Parade will feature homes from Ashworth Designer Homes, George C. Fuller Custom Homes, Greystone Customer Homes, P.B. Custom Homes and Penhollow Custom Homes. The Parade highlights the very finest in innovative home building and custom craftsmanship.

The Green Mountain Environmental Education Program will make a presentation about the environmental benefits of clean, electricity on the demonstration stage. Green Mountain representatives will also be availableto answerquestions about, and sign up people for,clean, affordable Pollution Freesm Green Mountain Electricity.

Schedule of Events during 2006 Parade of Homes
The Parade of Homes begins Saturday, May 27, 2006, continuing through Sunday, June 18 and is open Wednesday through Sunday. Event hours are 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. (Parade is open on Memorial Day.) This year's Parade of Homes features several new events, including Family Day, Red Hat Days and the Kitchen Tour, hosted by the Junior League of Plano.

All of these events are open to the public and offer something for everyone — people of all ages, including children. Calendar editors please list these as separate events.

  • Opening Day — Saturday, May 27, 10am. The Demonstration Stage will kick off its program with Green Mountain Energy Company offering tips and advice on renewable energy, followed by such organizations as Woodcraft providing tips on garage storage construction techniques.

  • Green Dream Home Contest with the McKinney Independent School District — Saturday, May 27. Winners of the contest will be announced at 11am at the Demonstration Stage. This is an art contest for children K-5 th grade. Children will design their dream homes incorporating renewable energy and energy-efficiency concepts.

  • Kitchen Tour hosted by the Junior League of Plano — Tuesday, May 30, 4-8pm, Parade site.

  • Red Hat Days — Thursday, June 1 & Thursday June 15. Members of the Red Hat Society are encouraged to attend the Parade in their full regalia, as it will give them a discounted admission of $8 on those specific days.

  • Family Day — Saturday, June 3. This new event will feature Eddie Coker, a popular musician for children and other fun and educational activities for the kids.

  • Senior Living Days — Every Wednesday, seniors will be given a discounted admission of $8 to the Parade of Homes.

  • Neil Sperry, synonymous with Texas gardening since 1970, will make an appearance on Saturday, June 10, from 11:30 a.m. — 1:30 p.m. at the Parade of HomesTM Demonstration Stage. He will be offering tips and advice on home gardening and crepe myrtles.

  • Tom Thumb People's Choice Winner will be announced Friday, June 16. The People's Choice award is given to the builder that receives the most votes from Parade attendees as their favorite home.

  • Also, throughout the Parade, a display of small-scale wind turbines representing the type that generate clean electricity, as well as a demonstration solar truck.
