Referral Partnerships Sales Manager

Position Summary: Green Mountain Energy Company is seeking a Referral Partnerships Sales Manager with outstanding prospecting, pipeline management, contract negotiation, sales and business management skills.  This position will generate residential sales through a variety of partners who refer their customers, members and employees to sign up for Green Mountain Energy’s pollution free products.


This position is responsible for achieving indirect/referral partnership sales targets in both New York and Pennsylvania.  This position will report to the New York Market Manager and will work with our Regional Business Director.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Assure sales targets are met in both the NYC and Orange & Rockland territories within New York state
  • Assure sales targets are met in both the PECO and PPL territories within Pennsylvania
  • Manage to acquisition cost targets
  • Assure the quality of sales
  • Work with New York and Pennsylvania Market Managers to develop, manage and secure referral partnerships
  • Negotiate and secure contracts with partners with the help of GMEC Legal
  • Help train partners on how to sell GMEC products based on our value proposition
  • Work with partners to develop a sales and implementation plan
  • Provide partners with necessary sales materials and sign-up interfaces
  • Spend the neccesary time in the field leading, motivating, teaching, and selling along side partner sales agents as needed
  • Work with other department sales managers as needed in the development and execution of referral partner sales programs
  • Provide competitive and other field related feedback
  • Work with stake holders across departments including HR, accounting, marketing, legal & public relations to support sales efforts
  • Generate weekly and monthly sales reports


Required Skills and Experience:

  • A sincere desire to help protect the environment is a plus
  • Successful sales track record
  • Minimum of 3 years of cold calling, prospecting and pipeline management experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of contract negotiiation experience
  • Existing relationships in one or more of the following prospect targets: fundraising organizations such as religious, educational, scout, museum, and/or potential affintity or reseller partners such as store and online retailers, or restaurants or clubs selling through to their customers or members
  • Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have strong documentation, communication and follow-up skills
  • Knowledge of energy/deregulation is a plus
  • College degree preferred
